Best Budget Wireless Earbuds Under $50 in 2026

Budget wireless earbuds have improved significantly in the last two years. The $40-50 price range now includes active noise cancellation and LDAC high-res audio that were exclusive to $200+ earbuds as recently as 2023. This does not mean every cheap earbud is good — the market is also full of $20 earbuds that sound like tin cans — but the ones in this guide deliver features that genuinely compete with premium products.

What We Tested

We tested six earbuds under $50 for three weeks each. The testing pool included the Anker Liberty 4 NC, EarFun Air Pro 4, Soundpeats Air4 Pro, Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2, JLab Go Air ANC, and 1MORE ComfoBuds Mini. The JLab and 1MORE did not make this guide: the JLab has ANC that actively makes audio worse rather than better, and the 1MORE has good sound but poor battery life for the price.

The ANC Reality at This Price Point

Budget ANC is not the same as premium ANC. The differences:

Noise types handled: premium ANC adapts to variable and unpredictable noise. Budget ANC handles steady-state noise (HVAC, consistent engine rumble) well and variable noise (conversations, traffic changes) less effectively.

Pressure sensation: cheaper ANC processing can produce a low-frequency pressure in the ear canal. This is not the ANC working — it is a byproduct of imprecise noise calculation. The Soundpeats Air4 Pro has this more than the Anker or EarFun.

Hiss: some ANC implementations introduce a white noise hiss to mask the noise floor of the ANC circuit. The Anker has a faint version of this in very quiet environments. The EarFun has less.

None of these limitations disqualify budget ANC for most use cases. If your goal is to take the edge off of office noise or commute noise rather than achieve total isolation, any of the three earbuds in this guide will do it.

Why LDAC at This Price Is Unusual

LDAC requires licensing from Sony and hardware capable of handling the higher data rate. Below $40, most earbuds use SBC or AAC because they are royalty-free. The Anker and Soundpeats have LDAC despite the price because both companies absorbed the cost to compete on the spec sheet.

Whether LDAC makes an audible difference at this price level depends on the rest of your audio chain. If you are streaming from Spotify at standard quality, LDAC makes no difference because the source audio is already compressed. If you are streaming from Apple Music, Tidal, or Amazon Music Unlimited at their lossless tiers, and your phone supports LDAC, the higher bitrate is audible on critical listening material.

The Liberty 4 NC wins because the HearID personalized EQ changes the audio quality in a meaningful way. Most budget earbuds sound mediocre because the default tuning is a compromise for average hearing. HearID generates a profile specific to your hearing response, and the difference is noticeable on the first listen after setting it up.

The 50-hour battery is also practically class-leading regardless of price tier. Most premium earbuds deliver 24-30 hours total. The Liberty 4 NC delivers 50. For frequent travelers or people who want to charge earbuds weekly rather than daily, this matters.

Best for Future Devices: EarFun Air Pro 4

Bluetooth LE Audio is the next-generation audio standard that replaces the Classic Bluetooth audio stack. LC3 is its codec. LE Audio delivers better audio quality at lower power consumption than Classic Bluetooth, and allows new features like multi-stream audio (two pairs of earbuds receiving the same signal simultaneously) and Auracast broadcasting.

Most current earbuds do not support LE Audio. The EarFun Air Pro 4 does. As Android devices adopt LE Audio more widely in 2026-2027, earbuds that support it will have a technology advantage. If you are buying earbuds to last three years, the Air Pro 4's LE Audio support is an investment in compatibility that the Anker lacks.

How Long Do Budget Earbuds Last?

In our experience, earbuds in the $35-50 range typically last 18-30 months with daily use before the battery degrades enough to affect usability. Premium earbuds last longer in our testing.
